Many organizations are having Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) events with great intentions and we as HR professionals, want to capitalize and change our culture for good.

All thriving organizations have a culture that promotes productivity and quality by valuing and creating trust. Without trusting relationships, team members will be distracted by events that hurt morale and performance. Regardless of the value of the business practices, growth will be limited and profit threatened if strategies for valuing all people are not a part of the plan, driven by leaders.

Problem:

  • Talking about racism and other “taboo” topics can be a daunting task for leaders and team members alike. These hard conversations must take place for there to be resolution.
  • People can react emotionally, passionately or completely shut down when these issues are raised without the skills to have these conversations.

Solution:

  • Identify the impact of actions and words, along with the history, that cause team members to feel disrespected and unseen.
  • Enable successful hard conversations by utilizing a story collecting process.
  • Facilitate transformative conversations.
  • Build strong, respectful connections between seemingly different people.
