April 11, 2012 - Workplace Violence

Our April GPSHRM Chapter Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at The Angus Restaurant on Scenic Highway. Networking and Registration begins at 11:15 and lunch will be served until 12 noon, when our program will begin.

We are pleased to have Patricia "Patty" Vanderpool, President of EAP Lifestyle Management, LLC, as our speaker. Our speaker has over 20 years of experience assisting employees and family members resolve problems that may impact their personal or work lives. One of her most requested topics for presentations is workplace violence.

EAP Lifestyle Management is a member of the following organizations relevant to workplace violence:
• International Critical Incident Stress Foundation
• National Center for Crisis Management
• The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress
• Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies (BRACE) - Florida
• City of Mobile Fire Department Critical Incident Stress Management Team
• Alabama & Florida OSHA Workplace Violence Alliances

The presentation will include useful information regarding: a) signs of potential violence, b) organizational warning signs, 3) immediate warning signs, 4) what to do in a threatening situation and 5) costs to all involved.


THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR 1 (General) RECERTIFICATION CREDIT THROUGH THE HR CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE.

It is important to RSVP so that we have an accurate head count for lunches.

The meeting cost is $20 for GPSHRM members, $10 for Student Members, and $25 for guests. If you attend as a Guest and join the chapter within 30 days of the event, you will receive a $10 discount on your current year dues. Also, if you RSVP for the meeting, but cannot attend, please cancel your RSVP within 24 hours of the meeting. Otherwise, you will be invoiced for the cost of your lunch.
